Understanding the concept
A pickup camper is a living module designed to be fitted into the bed of a pick-up. It turns the vehicle into a travel space with a bed, storage, a kitchen and other equipment depending on the model you choose. Unlike a permanent conversion, the cell stays removable. It can be fitted before a trip and then taken off to get back the everyday use of the pick-up.
The cell can be taken off between trips to keep the vehicle fully versatile day to day.
Depending on the model, the cell can include a bed, storage, a kitchen, a water tank, electrics, heating and other comfort equipment.
The pickup camper combines the vehicle's capability with a compact living space, suited to weekends, road trips and bivouacs.

Why choose a cell?
A pickup camper offers a different way to travel than a van or a motorhome. It combines a fully equipped living space with the versatility of a pick-up, while keeping the option to remove the cell once the trip is over. It's a particularly appealing solution for anyone who wants to use the same vehicle day to day and for their travels.
Once the cell is removed, the pick-up goes back to its everyday use. That means a single vehicle covers daily journeys, leisure trips and professional needs alike.
Depending on the vehicle, how it's prepared and the conditions you meet, a pick-up fitted with a cell can open up tracks, trails and more remote bivouac spots.
CAMPER-X cells offer spacious beds designed for travel, with different dimensions depending on the model and the number of travellers.
Water tank, battery, solar panels, fridge or heating let you match the cell's equipment to the length of your trips and the way you travel.
Compatibility
CAMPER-X cells are designed to fit a wide range of pick-ups on the market — including the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Isuzu D-Max, Nissan Navara, Mercedes-Benz X-Class, Volkswagen Amarok and Ford F-150. Depending on the vehicle, the cab type and the bed dimensions, the mounting system is adjusted for a suitable installation. Fitting uses the bed's anchor points together with the CAMPER-X system, with no structural modification to the pick-up in the configurations covered.
The key factor remains the available payload: the weight of the cell, plus water, options, gear and passengers, must stay within the vehicle's limits.

Installation
CAMPER-X cells are designed to be fitted directly into the pick-up's bed using a mounting system adapted to the vehicle's anchor points. Depending on the configuration, the cell can be held in place with soft straps or metal tensioners. Installation requires no structural modification to the pick-up in the configurations covered, and the tailgate can be kept. The cell stays removable: it can be taken off using its legs whenever you want to get back the everyday use of your pick-up.
Comparison
Each CAMPER-X model suits a different way of travelling. The right choice mainly depends on the number of travellers, the level of comfort you're after, how much storage you need and the weight your pick-up can carry.
| Model | Weight without options | Bed | Travellers |
|---|---|---|---|
| PHOENIX | 510 kg | 180 × 200 cm | 3 to 4 people |
| REBEL X | 470 kg | 200 × 170 cm | 3 to 4 people |
| REVO X | 390 kg | 200 × 150 cm | 2 to 3 people |
| X PLORER | 380 kg | 200 × 170 cm | 3 to 4 people |
Comfort and autonomy
Comfort in a pickup camper isn't just about the bed. Interior layout, water capacity, the electrical setup and the equipment on board all matter too, depending on the length of your trips and the level of autonomy you're after.
Depending on the model, CAMPER-X cells offer beds from 200 × 150 cm to 200 × 180 cm, with layouts designed for two to four travellers.
Water tank capacity and kitchen layout vary by model. Some configurations hold up to 110 L of water, while the kitchen can be indoor or outdoor depending on the cell you choose.
Depending on the model and configuration, the cell can be fitted with a built-in battery or a portable solution such as EcoFlow, paired with 220 W or 420 W solar panels. Equipment such as a fridge, a diesel heater, 220 V sockets or USB ports can also complete the setup depending on your needs.

Your way of travelling
Choosing a pickup camper also depends on how you travel. A few days away, a road trip, an extended bivouac or a long-distance journey don't necessarily call for the same equipment or the same level of comfort.

For a few days away, a simple, compact cell can be enough, with the essentials for sleeping, cooking and enjoying a bivouac without piling on equipment.

For stringing together several stops, a comfortable bed, storage and autonomy become more important to make day-to-day life easier over several days.

When you stay longer in the same spot, managing water, electrics, heating and cooking matters more.

For trips lasting several weeks, choosing the right cell depends more on the level of comfort you want, storage volume, autonomy and the number of travellers.
