"The caravan is spacious enough for the three of us, with a cosy sleeping area, a very practical kitchen and clever storage spaces for all our stuff. Each destination is a new discovery, a playground for our daughter and an escape from routine for us. Waking up to a different view every morning is a priceless experience. For any couple with children looking for off-the-beaten-track adventures, this is the perfect investment."

Frequently asked questions

An off-road caravan is an all-terrain caravan. Thanks to its sturdy, powerful and versatile trailer, it can rival any off-road vehicle.

The caravan weighs just 690 kg and has a maximum permissible weight of 750 kg. The vast majority of vehicles can tow it.

The towable mass of your vehicle must be at least 750 kg. The towable weight is calculated using information F.2 and F.3 on the towing vehicle's registration document:
Towable weight = Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (F3) - Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (F2)

A "B" driving license is usually sufficient.

If the GVW of your towing vehicle exceeds 2750 kg, B96 training will be required.

Article R 221-4 of the Highway Code describes the three categories of license required to tow a trailer or caravan with a category B vehicle:

B license:
This is the traditional car license obtained at a driving school, to drive a category B vehicle. This license is sufficient if the GVWR (or F2 on the registration document) of the trailer (or caravan) towed does not exceed 750 kg.
The B license is also valid when the sum of the GVWR (or F2) of the trailer (or caravan) and the car does not exceed 3500 kg. Example: towing vehicle with 2000 kg GVW + trailer with 1500 kg GVW = 3500 kg, B license limit.
Note that if the trailer's GVW does not exceed 750 kg, the sum of GVWs allowed under the B license can be up to 4250 kg. Example: towing vehicle with 3500 kg GVW + trailer with 750 kg GVW = 4250 kg.

Permis B + Formation B 96: a simple course
This course, to be taken at a driving school, is obtained after a 7-hour paid course, without a test. The B96 course enables you to drive a combination of vehicles with a total gross vehicle weight + trailer (or caravan) of between 3,501 and 4,250 kg, when the gross vehicle weight of the trailer exceeds 750 kg.

BE license: a real test with theory and practical tests
This license is required for a combination of vehicle (category B) + trailer (or caravan) whose total GVW exceeds 4250 kg. This license is a real exam with theoretical and practical tests. The BE license is permanent.
The BE license is often required to tow a double-axle caravan (which is not the case for Camper X off-road caravans).

As you can see, you don't need a BE license to tow our off-road caravans.

Yes, a vehicle registration document is required for all caravans with a GVW of over 500 kg. The procedure is the same as for a car, except that caravans are not subject to roadworthiness tests.
If the GVW is less than or equal to 500 kg, the caravan or trailer does not need its own registration document. It does, however, need a license plate identical to that of the vehicle towing it.

Insurance is compulsory if you travel with a caravan. A caravan is considered a vehicle in its own right, and insurance cover will depend on its weight and use.
