An off-road caravan is an all-terrain caravan. Thanks to its sturdy, powerful and versatile trailer, it can rival any off-road vehicle.

The trailer weighs just 690 kg and has a GVW of 1300 kg. The vast majority of vehicles can tow it.

The towable mass of your vehicle must be at least 1300 kg. The towable weight is calculated using information F.2 and F.3 on the towing vehicle's registration document:
Towable weight = gross vehicle weight (F3) - gross vehicle weight (F2).

Yes, a vehicle registration document is required for all caravans with a GVW of over 500 kg. The procedure is the same as for a car, except that caravans are not subject to roadworthiness tests.
If the GVW is less than or equal to 500 kg, the caravan or trailer does not need its own registration document. It does, however, need a license plate identical to that of the vehicle towing it.

Insurance is compulsory if you travel with a caravan. A caravan is considered a vehicle in its own right, and insurance cover will depend on its weight and use.
